Trinity College London Diploma in TESOL

(9 months Distance Learning with 2-week on-site component) - Get your Dip TESOL in 1 year!

The Trinity College London Licentiate Diploma in TESOL (LTCL Dip TESOL) is a course for experienced EFL teachers who are seeking a qualification that will help further their career in EFL / ESOL.

Typically, course members have at least two years teaching experience (or equivalent) and are looking to gain the professional expertise and knowledge required for more senior positions in the EFL / ESOL industry, such as DOS, Teacher Trainer etc.

The Dip TESOL is accredited as a Level 7 qualification on the UK National Qualifications Framework. Along with the Cambridge DELTA, it is one of the two qualifications recognised on a world-wide basis by both employers and academic institutions.

Unlike the DELTA course, the Trinity Dip TESOL course is a single integrated programme, which closely links theory with practical classroom implementation and personal teacher development. Additionally, Oxford International Teacher Training provides all teaching practice staff, so there is no need to find your own observers. We schedule the course so that you can finish all 4 Units within 12 months, but you actually have up to 3 years to complete everything, taking the Unit assessments in whichever order you choose.

The course aims to provide you with:

  • An in-depth understanding of the grammatical and phonological systems of English.
  • An ability to identify the needs and motivation of learners from a variety of backgrounds.
  • A knowledge of the main theories of teaching and learning and how they relate to ELT.
  • An awareness of the role of English in the world.
  • A heightened awareness of how to reflect on your own teaching.
  • A greatly increased repertoire of techniques that you can use in the classroom
  • An ability to select and exploit materials according to your learners’ needs.
  • A greater appreciation of how to approach the teaching of the four skills.
  • Familiarity with a set of key texts and websites.
  • An awareness of how to support colleagues, including new teachers, in the work environment.
  • A knowledge of areas key to the teaching and classroom management of younger learners.

  • "Since completing the Cert TESOL course at Oxford International, I have been working hard. I have lots of classes and have actually already seen a return on the price I paid for the TESOL course so I am pretty happy. My students are fantastic which makes it very easy!"

  • "I had 4 great weeks on the CertTESOL course in London. It balanced learning the technicalities of language, analysing teaching methods and practising them. The tutors gave valuable insight from their own experience and space to create our own teaching style. Importantly, we did this in an atmosphere that was not only relaxed and comfortable, but encouraging and constructive."

  • "It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I learned more about grammar and phonology in a month than I did in 4 years of university in Australia! The most valuable element was the insight I received in engaging students of all abilities using a variety of strategies - skills I can use for the rest of my career."

  • "I really learned so much at Oxford International in Greenwich. The techniques seen, critiques heard and encouragement I received changed me. My lessons are less teacher focused and more student focused, and I realised I had to help my students take ownership of their learning."

  • "I am so pleased I chose to study the Cert TESOL at Oxford International. Our trainers were supportive, motivating and very knowledgeable. Their experience and enthusiasm alongside a well structured course made the whole process an enjoyable challenge. At the start of the course I wondered how on earth I would be prepared to teach by the end of the 13 weeks, but now I feel confident that I can go out into the teaching world and start my career. I would thoroughly recommend the course to others wishing to gain a TEFL qualification."
